LED applications continued to rise, which increased demand for lighting market, not only to achieve strong growth, LED lighting has become a major application. The total revenues of LED backlighting and illumination in 2010 were 7.2 billion U.S. dollars, DisplaySearch estimated in 2011 consumption will grow 20 percent over 2010, in 2014 it is expected to reach 12.7 billion U.S. dollars.The demand of LED overall market  continues to increase, but demand for LED backlighting is decreased,it began to shift towards LED lighting applications. Jingmin Liu, senior analyst from DisplaySearch said, since the replacement of halogen lamps, LED is of a high penetration rate in spotlight applications, while the government is also expected to lift the policy to accelerate the LED lights on the application. At the second quarter of 2011,for LED lighting, the total revenue was 32 billion U.S. dollars,at the third quarter it is expected to rapidly rise to 34 billion U.S. dollars. Suppliers are aware of this trend and plans to increase capacity,it is estimated in 2011 the global LED production capacity will reach 1,000 80 billion, in 2013 it will reach 2,000 27 billion.
As to LED backlight applications, in all small and medium-size LCD products, the portable personal computer has penetration rate of nearly 100%, LCD monitors and LCD TV also have rising penetration, but the number of each LED package is reduced. The total demand for LED backlighting in 2011 is 45.9 billion. Since 2010, LCD TV becomes a major application of LED-backlit, accounting for 50% of demand, estimated in 2012 to reach the highest value. But with the reduction in the number of each LED package, TV demand in 2013 will decline slightly.Currently, Japan is the world's largest LED light bulb market whose market share is up to 63%, but in 2014 it will be reduced to 40%. As the limited of power resources and enhanced awareness of energy saving, LED has high permeability in lighting system of Japan, until 2014 it will be the largest lighting market. In addition, after 2011, Taiwan will replace Japan as the largest supplier of LED, mainland China invested a lot in LED production in the past few years, in many applications they are also available.
