According to reports from the International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI),capital spending of global semiconductor industry  in 2011 increased to $ 41.1 billion, which created the highest record,SEMI estimated the overall production capacity of semiconductor will be slow.SEMI estimates in 2011 there will be 223 new plants who increase investment in equipment, of which 77 are specifically for LED equipment investment plan. Next year,it is expected 190 installed plants will be commenced or continued, of which 72 are LED devices related investment plans.With the highest equipment spending in 2011 is the United States, accounting for about $ 10 billion; followed by Taiwan, about 90 billion U.S. dollars of investment. Americas ranked the highest in 2002 in investment of equipment spending.
Although Intel has highest investment in equipment spending, but one key factor the United States becomes one with the highest equipment expenditures is the Samsung creates "S2 product line" with cost of 25 to 30 billion dollars  in Texas, USA.According to the global foundry forecast report from SEMI,South Korea will overtake the United States in 2012 and top the list with over $ 10 billion investment in wafer fab equipment spending , followed by Taiwan, about 92 billion dollars in equipment spending."the economy in recent months dropped consumer confidence index and spending , the semiconductor industry is also affected by the downturn." senior analyst in Research and Statistics Department of fab information from SEMI ,Christian Gregor Dieseldorff pointed out in a report. Looking ahead, the industry may not be able to resist the rapid increase in demand, such as the NAND flash market. SEMI said, it needs about a year and a half from zero to mass production, then in order to see an increase in production capacity in 2012 or 2013 , new plant construction plans must be start now!
