As affected by the Thailand's flood,the supply shortage of hard disks is worsening, some PC vendors have begun to find sources in gray market, some PCODM (original design manufacturer) may be forced to stop production from November.The actions that PC makers find sources in the gray market lead to price rising of hard disks in grey markets, the price of 500GB hard drive is up to more than $ 100 from $ 45 before, the price of  320GB hard drive is up to $ 60 -70 dollars from $ 35 before.As the future of hard drive industry is uncertain, PC makers increasingly worried about supply shortages.It is said, the brand manufacturers are into a "panic" because of the stock,At present most of the hard drive manufacturers get the orders which are twice or three times of the usual requirements,however, hard drive manufacturers response that they have no longer stock and can not supply, PC makers are turning gray market.PC brands also analyzed on the current market environment,considerating the price of a mainstream PC per NT is $ 25,000 -2.8 million (about $ 827 -926 U.S. dollars),if the prices of 320GB hard drive increase $ 30, then the PC machine cost will go up 4%.If it is a high-end model, the PC hard drive manufacturers can eliminate the cost price. But if it is a mainstream model, PC manufacturers need to observe market conditions before deciding whether to raise the whole price.    Industry sources said, because the hard part PCODM manufacturers or suppliers are forced to shut down from November, at fourth quarter of this year, the global source of supply is expected to fall to 100 million -1.1 one hundred million from the 170 million last year.As the world's top five hard drive manufacturers have been affected by floods in Thailand, which led to hard drive supply gap is 50% -60%, hard drive prices are rising rapidly.
