American Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) recently released four research reports to make clarification on the collapse of the U.S. solar companies.Previously, the bankruptcy of Solyndra and other PV companies in United States has sparked heated debate, and even views that this is the result of unfair competition PV companies in China. In this regard, the report said, Solyndra's collapse does not represent the status of the U.S. solar energy industry, because in any dynamic competition in market, there are always some companies thriving while others fail. Despite the support by the Federal Government, Solyndra still went bankrupt due to an unsustainable business model. When faced with pressure to cut prices of photovoltaic cells, Solyndra can not survive from this high-tech dynamic market. The PV industry competition is a good thing for U.S. consumers , it contributes to cost reduction, more and more Americans will use solar power. It is reported that, despite the bankruptcy of Solyndra, the U.S. Department of Energy's loan guarantee program to promote solar power is still of lower prices, and more businesses and households can afford solar power.Data show that on September 16, 2011, the U.S. Department of Energy has secured a 42 energy projects, attracted more than $ 40 billion in private investment and created thousands of jobs. The report countered that the U.S. solar energy sector has become the fastest growing segment, and by 2014, the United States will become the world's largest PV market.Data shows that in the first half of 2011, the U.S. PV installed capacity reached 582 MW, which was over the total installed capacity of 435 MW in 2009.It is noteworthy that there are rumors that the U.S. solar energy products are produced in China, this report revealed that in 2010, even for China, the U.S. trade surplus of solar energy products is still very significant. The exports of American Solar Energy products amounted to $ 5.6 billion, net exports totaled $ 2 billion. In the same year, the U.S. solar energy system installed to create immediate value of 60 billion U.S. dollars, of which over 4.4 billion U.S. dollars (75% of the total value) flows to the U.S.. |
