According to foreign media reports, research firm,Gartner released the latest forecast that revenue of worldwide semiconductor in 2012 is expected to reach $ 309 billion, the annual growth rate is revised down to 2.2% from 4.6% in the previous quarter, vice president of Gartner research,Bryan Lewis said that increasing concerns of the euro area in the future impact global economic performance, spending of consumer and business is affected by the high uncertainty of economy which impact both the semiconductor industry, so the reduction of forecast is not only because of the recession,but also for inventory adjustment, manufacturing, supply surplus and natural disasters.Gartner expects the forecast of PC output changes from 10.1% to 5%, Gartner said that despite the weak economy lead the main PC output is far away from as expected, but Thailand's floods led to hard drive shortages, further slowing growth in PC market.Gartner believes that due to floods in Thailand caused confusion in the supply chain, making the PC production in the next few quarters will be limited by the supply of hard disk,until full recovery of production of hard disk.Gartner also raised slightly the mobile phone production in 2012 from 7% to 7.5%.In 2012, Tablet PC's output is from 110 million units, down slightly to 1.07 million units,compared to 2011, it still has an increase of 63%. Gartner analysts pointed out that the smartphone will support increased production in the semiconductor in 2012.As expected, the DRAM market this year has decline of 26%, the overall market will resume growth in 2012, the global DRAM revenue will increase by 3%, which flash memory storage has the most rapid growth and is expected to grow 16.6% in 2012 under driven of selling of mobile devices. |
