According to latest news from foreign media, director of AMD in Australia and New Zealand ,Brian Slattery said in an interview on Monday, AMD's ultra-thin platform will be launched next month to challenge Intel's Ultrabook,it is very likely to be on the launch at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).To distinguish from Intel's Ultrabook, Slattery called it "ultrathin", and said processor for Ultrathin will be ready soon, although the company did not explicitly use what size processor, but lit is ikely to be carried FusionAPU processor which is launched in January this year.AMD's upcoming ultra-thin platform is likely to adopt AMD's concept of FusionAPU, namely to integrate RadeonHD'sgraphics chip into the processor, similar to Intel's upcoming SandyBridge and IvyBridge processors.AMD did not achieve great success in the market of ultra-portable notebook computer, the main problem facing is the processor itself is more suitable for netbooks, which can not compete with Corei5 and i7 Ultrabook uses . However, with the application of 28 nanometer wafer technology CPU, AMD will be able to design and introduce more competitive processors, to provide an alternative for computer manufacturers except Intel products. |
