U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has published international semiconductor technology roadmap (the ITRS) of 2011, which provided details on a variety of short-term and long-term trends, all the way to planning the development of the semiconductor industry to 2026.The announcement of the blueprint of the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association, first published in South Korea on the December 14, 2011,during the process of making the blueprint, research institutions in five regions, including United States, Europe, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, all contributed. According to Brian Toohey from the Association, the team produced a blueprint hopes the industry has more time to study with the announcement of technical difficulties and possible solution in advance. In the planning of such a blueprint, the difficulty lies in how to follow Moore's Law and continue miniature semiconductor manufacturing process, but in the meantime to improve performance to meet the market demand, which, such as topics of memory, micro-electromechanical system (MEMS), sensors, 3D chips are included.U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association pointed out that, among a variety of areas, the development of the DRAM is particularly fast, so that also is expected to bring high-performance server, game console, with graphics card and other new technologies. In the blueprint, the flash memory is used on popular portable products in the market, including digital camera, tablet PCs, mobile phones and others , and thus it gets special attention. According to projections, the flash memory will have rapid development in the next few years. |
