Intel's executive vice president and chairman of China,Sean Maloney said Intel estimates the company's new generation of the microprocessor IvyBridge, time to market will delay of eight to ten weeks than original one. Maloney said in the interview with the Financial Times of London on the 26th, notebook computer with the Intel IvyBridge processor,the launch time will delay from April , he said: "I think it might be extended to June." Intel will use 22 nanometer process IvyBridge to replace SandyBridge.This is the first time Maloney interviewed to discuss the operation in China. He said that the introduction of time delay is not because of lack of demand, but because the new process of manufacture smaller chips. A Intel spokesman said the shipments in the second quarter of IvyBridge plans have not changed.Maloney also said that Lenovo smartphone with Intel chips launched in China in April, it will also be launched around the world, the interval time is about four to five months.Maloney had been regarded as the most likely to succeed as Intel CEO Otellini candidates; Otellini is scheduled for retirement in 2015. Maloney, however, after a stroke in early 2010, career outlook has become more uncertain. Maloney, in July last year, took over chairman of Intel in China ,this is the newly created position by Intel to focus on China market and .According to International Data Corporation (IDC) forecast, China will surpass the United States to become the lagerst market with the global shipments of personal computer this year. China is the global largest market of mobile phone market, while Intel is trying to break into this market with Medfield processor for smart phones and tablet PCs.Maloney said: "I think two or three years later, all of China's mobile phones will be smart phones, because the costs will be much low." He also stressed that China's server market will be a strong source of growth. |
