International Research and advisory firm, Gartner released the latest outlook report, global semiconductor revenue is expected to reach $ 316 billion in 2012, an increase of 4% compared to 2011,vice president of Gartner research, Bryan Lewis said that the overall economic situation is stabilized, the semiconductor industry is expected to be warm in the second quarter of 2012, the inventory correction is expected to be completed in the first quarter,wafer utilization will be bottoming out. Gartner released in the fourth quarter of last year annual growth forecast was 2.2 percent.In the memory market, Gartner said that 2011 can be said to be the worst year for the performance of the DRAM industry, prices are falling 50%, revenue declined 25 percent, while revenue this year is expected to slightly increase, prices of DRAM are expected to rise in the second quarter in 2012 ,analysts of Gartner believe that Elpida filed for bankruptcy protection is the main reason DRAM prices rebound this year, one of the main; NANDFlash is one of the fastest growing sectors in the 2012, its revenue growth is expected to reach 18% . The analyst pointed out that the NAND Flash for mobile consumer devices and solid-state drives increased demand for strong growth.Gartner estimates that in 2012 the flat media (mediatablet,) production is expected to grow substantially 78% over the previous year, the contribution of the semiconductor revenue will reach $ 9.5 billion, and quad-core processors and high-resolution display will be the components of flat-panel media mainstream this year.Production of PC is expected to grow 4.7%, the contribution of the semiconductor revenues will be up to $ 57.8 billion; annual growth rate of mobile phone production will be 6.7% also, the semiconductor industry revenue contribution from the mobile phone unit is estimated to reach 57.2 billion U.S. dollars.Lewis said that if the overall economic situation has been effectively controlled, the 2012 should be one year semiconductor has strong performance.
