In 2012 global semiconductor revenue is expected to reach $ 316 billion, an increase of 4 percent more than in 2011 according to the global technology research and consulting firm. The outlook is higher than the 2.2 percent growth forecast for the fourth quarter of 2011 by the U.S. consulting firm Gartner. Gartner research's vice president ,Bryan Lewis said semiconductor industry is expected to pick up in the second quarter of 2012. The inventory correction in the first quarter is expected to be completed, the wafer utilization will be bottoming out, in addition,the overall economic situation will be gradully stabilized. It is reported that in the memory market, the price of dynamic random access memory (DRAM) is expected to rebound in the second quarter of 2012. 2011 can be said to be the worst year for the performance of the DRAM industry, revenue fell 25 percent in 2012 and is expected to slightly increase. DRAM prices in 2011 fell 50%, Gartner analysts believe that the Japanese memory company ,Elpida filed for bankruptcy protection is one of the main reasons DRAM prices to rebound this year . NANDFlash storage flash can be said fastest-growing equipment in 2012, and its revenue growth is expected to reach 18%. The analyst pointed out that the NAND Flash for mobile consumer devices and solid-state hard drive increased demand to bring about strong growth. Lewis said that if the overall economic situation has been effectively controlled, the 2012 should be a fairly strong year for the semiconductor industry. Gartner predicts in 2012 semiconductor revenue is expected to grow 4%, which is built on the premise of the European debt crisis can be controlled. |
