Nomura Securities cited the monthly statistics of the U.S. Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the global chip market capitalization in May is $ 23 billion. In May, except memory, the global chip revenue is $ 18 billion, up 2 percent decline than May of 2011 which reversed a year-on-year growth in April - an increase of 3% compared to last year in April. The main cause of the recession is due to the analog and microprocessor chip market is relatively sluggish. In May, the analog chip market revenue is $ 3.2 billion, down 10%; microprocessor chip sales are $ 2.8 billion ,year-on-year decrease is 9%. Although other logic IC revenue is $ 6.3 billion, an increase of 6%, but it can not reverse the decline of the entire market.Nomura also gives the shipments and average selling price analysis of major market segments. Compared with the same period last year, the total shipments of overall chip market (excluding memory) in May fell 1 percent, the average selling price fell by 2%. The analog chip shipments fell 3 percent, the average selling prices decline 7%. The MPU shipments fell 13 percent, the average selling price rose by 4%. Logic IC shipments grew 4%, the average selling price rose 2 percent. As for the memory market, the market value is $ 5 billion in May, year-on-year in May 2011 fell 6%. Memory shipments grew 8 percent, the unit price decreases 13%. |
