According to IHS iSuppli's global semiconductor manufacturing and supply market tracking reports, in 2012 wireless applications will be the savior of the global semiconductor market. It is expected that the application field of semiconductor revenues will achieve double-digit growth, while the other six major semiconductor market segments have much smaller increase, or even negative growth. In 2012 wireless communications semiconductor revenue is expected to reach $ 72.6 billion, an increase of 10.3% from $ 65.8 billion in 2011. It is expected this year, only industrial electronics could be compared with wireless area, its semiconductor revenue is expected to grow 7.7%. This year the field of industrial electronics semiconductor revenue growth is actually lower than last year's 9.3 percent, while the wireless semiconductor revenue growth is more than 8.5% in 2011. The overall global semiconductor revenue this year is expected to moderate growth of 3%, from $ 312.2 billion last year rose to $ 320.8 billion. Compared with other areas of semiconductor, wireless field is more prominent. Wired communications semiconductor revenue is expected to be increased by only 0.7 percent, consumer electronics and automotive electronics, an increase of 1.3% and 2.7% respectively. At least two areas will have negative growth this year: the field of data processing is expected to decline 1.9%, multi-chip memory module (MCP) is expected to dropped 17.9 percent. These projections indicate that, although semiconductor revenue this year has improved the situation, but not a general increase ,growth was mainly from the wireless field.
