IHSiSuppli said in the report on Friday that the global semiconductor chip shipments this year, a year-on-year decline of 0.1%. It was previously forecasted a year-on-year growth of 3%. This is the first decline since the Great Depression in 2009. iSuppli believes that during the period of April to June, the changes in the semiconductor chip is seasonal, by contrast, the slowdown is more noteworthy. The weak global economy is the main reason, but the main recession is from the PC chip. IDC also warned that the slowdown in the PC market, it expected PC shipments this year, an increase of only 0.9%. In March, IDC had expected an increase of 5%. PC sales have been weak this year, Microsoft's upcoming Windows8 may not be as strong as expected.The analyst ,JayChou said: "Buyers must be applied to the new system, it is completely different from the existing PC mode. PC ecosystem to take some time to educate the market." On Wednesday, the world's largest PC maker, Hewlett-Packard said PC sales fell 10%.  CEO of HP,Whitman (MegWhitman) attributed this to the price war, the rise of the tablet smart phone, consumers wait for Windows8 deferred purchase PC. IDC and iSuppli believes that in 2013 high-tech industry will be better. IDC believes that next year's PC shipments will grow 6.5%. iSuppli believes that chip shipments grow 9%.
