Qualcomm Will Become Fourth Largest Semiconductor Supplier

According to foreign media reports, research firm ICinsight has forecast on the growth rate of the world's top 20 semiconductor suppliers in 2012, the gap between the growth range is very big. Although the two companies have always had a close relationship, but ICinsight expected, in 2012, for 20 semiconductor suppliers, with the highest growth rate is Globalfoundries (up 31%), the lowest is AMD (down 17%). ICInsights believe that the continued success of the production line / OEM business model has a significant effect on the rate of growth of the previous 20 more than half of the superconductor suppliers. The top five suppliers, including three fabless companies - Qualcomm,Nvidia and Broadcom, there are two pure foundry Globalfoundries and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). ICInsights expected sales of Globalfoundries in 2012 are expected to have significant growth, reaching 31% ,TSMC's growth rate is 17%. However, Globalfoundries 's original parent company's largest customer, AMD's sales will drop 17%. Globalfoundries current income soared mainly due to their success in attracting new customers such as the STMicroelectronics chip foundry (STMicroelecronics), Freescale (Freescale) and Qualcomm and other ICInsights. The research firm said that due to good results of Globalfoundries this year, the company this year will replace ElpidaMemory, and among the top for the first time into the top 20 list. Its ranking rose from 21 in 2011 to 15 this year. ICinsight predicted that the fabless supplier ,sales of Qualcomm 2012 will surge 30%, ranking up three positions to replace the Texas Instruments (TI) to become the fourth largest semiconductor supplier. In contrast, the Freescale semiconductor revenue will drop 14% in 2012, its ranking fell to 19 in 2012 from 2011, 16. ICinsight expects total sales of 20 semiconductor suppliers in 2012 will reach about $ 3.2 billion, down 1%. The global semiconductor market sales are expected to decline 2%.  In addition, ICInsights think three pure foundry semiconductor suppliers will be occupied the first position in the 2012 among 20 semiconductor suppliers. Working supplier of total sales is expected to grow by 16% in the 2012's. In the next few years, foundry services will have a strong market demand.
