Qualcomm said today that with enhancement of yield from Samsung, TSMC, Qualcomm's smartphone chip shortage problem has been basically solved. The COO of Qualcomm , Steven Moline Krakow said in an interview in Hong Kong,chip shortages have become a thing of the past, the three main partners, Samsung, Globalfoundries and TSMC are to increase production." Qualcomm said earlier this year, the supplier TSMC's production can not keep up with the fast-growing smartphone chip orders. Subsequently,Qualcomm increased huge spending, and increase orders from other suppliers to meet the the smartphone processor orders ,such as Apple, Samsung and HTC. Maureen Primakov said: "We really experienced manufacturing partners could not meet the market demand, but we believe that the problem will be completely resolved before the end of this year." He also said that, until October of this year, the phone chip shortage of 28-nanometer was a problem. But now, the problem has been basically solved. The spokesman of Samsung , Chris Chuang , Samsung plans to begin mass production of its own brand of 28-nanometer mobile device processor early next year. With the popularity of mobile devices, Qualcomm also benefited. Research firm, IHS ISuppli expects Qualcomm chip sales will grow 27% this year, making it the world's third-largest chip maker. Maureen Primakov IHS ISuppli expects refused to disclose whether it is consistent with Qualcomm's own goal, but he said: "For us, this is a pretty good year."
