According to tracking report from the semiconductor manufacturing IHSiSuppli on supply market , the global economic downturn has brought pressure which will result in annual global semiconductor revenue contraction. Semiconductor revenue will be $ 303 billion this year, down 2.3% from $ 310 billion in 2011. This is contrast to an increase of 1.3% last year. The global economy is still the most critical factor affecting the semiconductor industry in the next two years, especially since the chip industry is highly dependent on consumer spending. Consumers believe their own financial situation is stable or improve the previous, consumer spending is likely to remain weak. In 2012 semiconductor inventory reduction is a serious problem. The complete reversal from the expected growth the expected decline shows that the semiconductor industry, the situation becomes very bad, sales facing downward pressure is not relieved. Although the final data is not yet released, but the industry is widespread concern that, if the economic situation did not improve the overall semiconductor industry's operating income is likely to decline by 3-5% this year. Worrying is that the industry has been unable to reduce inventory in the hands of the channels as well as chip suppliers. Due to excess inventory levels, the final equipment manufacturers postpone ordering more components. The results of chip suppliers operating rate can not be maintained at an optimum level which can only be based on historical demand products. In some cases, the expected demand does not appear, and thus increase the inventory problem. Overall, at third-quarter chip shipments are believed to have only 0.5% growth over the second quarter. At the fourth quarter of this year, shipments will behave worse which is expected to shrink by 12%.
