The global semiconductor industry has negative growth this year, chairman of TSMC,Morris Chang said yesterday that the global semiconductor industry next year, there will be three percent growth; TSMC performance is expected to grow 15-20%, R & D expenses and capital expenditures will be invested more next year than this year. TSMC yesterday held its twelfth "Supply Chain Management Forum, invited 450 participants from the global semiconductor equipment, raw materials, packaging, testing, and factory service suppliers to participate. Morris Chang proposed the concept of the "big league", and stressed that through the active efforts, they will be able to create innovative win-win situation.Morris Chang said that global GDP had growth of 2.4 percent last year, the forecast for next year is 2.6 percent; growth rate of the global semiconductor industry this year is a negative two percent, three percent growth next year is expected. Although the semiconductor industry this year is poor, but the IC design industry ,there is a six percent growth ,next year will grow to nine percent. Morris Chang said TSMC revenue has 19 percent growth this year, next year there will be a percentage growth of 15-20. TSMC performance grows year by year, with the IC design companies to fully grasp the opportunity, including the first computers at 80's , the second phone, and mobile devices killer applications. He said TSMC R & D funding this year is $ 1.3 billion, next year there will be $ 1.6 billion; capital spending this year is $ 8.3 billion ,next year, about nine billion U.S. dollars. Recently,according to media reports, TSMC to echo Apple Computer, intends to set up factory in the United States. Morris Chang said TSMC always consider where to set up factories, the United States is also a place in his consideration of. |
